Iran announced that unmanned bombers destroyed seven hypothetical bases for extra-regional forces, in the Lout Desert in the Garmsar province at the center of the country, during military maneuvers coded Great Prophet 7.
This is the first time that military sources have made reference to the possession of advanced combat techniques, which match those in the arsenals of the developed powers.
The maneuvers, which are continuing for a second day, according to the statement, are under the command of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (Basij), an elite contingent parallel to the country’s armed forces.
In the course of the war games, “long, medium and short-range ballistic missiles,” were also used, said the communique released by the official news agency IRNA. The announcement comes amid disagreements between the Islamic Republic of Iran on one hand, and the United States, Great Britain and France on the other, due to the Iranian nuclear development program.
